Formation of ad hoc microgrids for prompt critical load pickup during blackouts by leveraging stochastic distributed energy resources

Extreme weather events that are increasing in frequency and impact can cause extended disruptions to power grids. To increase the resilience of grids, focus is shifting from infrastructure hardening quickening restoration distribution systems after a disaster. One method achieve this through use microgrids leveraging distributed generation islanded mode. While much work has been done using for system restoration, stochastic nature energy resources (DERs) have so far neglected. Here, data-driven approach leverage DERs form ad hoc supply local critical loads prior wide-scale presented. The proposed tested on modified IEEE European LV Test Feeder. Results show considering during microgrid formation greatly affects their adequacy confidence levels.
